Dr Sangya Varma has joined Pan IIT Leadership Circle's Education Initiative as the Co-chair representing IIT Roorkee.

She is the Associate director for Academic Affairs and Curricula Development at Rutgers Professional Science Masters Program that offers Masters of Business and Science (MBS) degree. I volunteer in the townships Commission on Women activities, and as a basketball coach.

Her immediate focus in the PLC initiative is to mobilize the IIT Roorkee alumni in Academics for the Pan-IIT Education Forum and Workshop, to be held during PAN IIT 2011 Global Conference in New York.

The major question that this forum seeks to address is: ‘What role(s) can the IIT alums in academia in North America play in IIT’s being recognized as world class research universities?’

This workshop attempts to address the challenges that IIT's face in transitioning to world class Research Institutes by bringing together the IIT Directors and a passionate group of Alums, who are willing to participate in programs that are conceived during this workshop and see them through to fruition.

This workshop also aims to create the first formal Pan IIT Leadership Group of Alums in Education and Research, with the goal of featuring the contribution of this group at all Pan IIT conferences. in doing so this group now becomes IIT Brand ambassadors alongside Alums in Industry.
