New Chairman of Board of Governors of IIT Roorkee, PadmaVibhushan Shri Analjit Singh

Dear Alumni of University of Roorkee/IIT Roorkee,

Greetings. We are happy to inform that the new Chairman of Board of Governors of IIT Roorkee, PadmaVibhushan Shri Analjit Singh, was on his first visit to IIT Roorkee on Aug. 2, 2011. In his short visit, the Chairman met all Deans and HODs and gained a first hand feel of the Institute. Please find more information on the dynamic person, that our Chairman is.

Shri Analjit Singh B.A.(Hons), BS, MBA

Founder, Chairman, Managing Director, Chairman of Max Health Care, Chairman of Max Bupa Health Insurance and Chairman of Maxnewyork Life, Max India Limited. He is connected to 9 Board Members in 9 different organizations across 11 different industries. He is an alumnus of Doon School, Dehradun; Shriram College of Commerce, University of Delhi, and MBA from the Graduate School of Management, Boston University, Boston, USA.

The Max India Group turnover for the Calendar Year 2009 was INR 72,500 million with a customer base of 4 million. The total investment in various businesses at the end of CY2009 stood at INR 18,500 million. The Group has over 700 offices across India; with people strength of over 100, 000. As one of India's leading business-persons, Mr. Analjit Singh is a Member of the Prime Minister's Joint Indo-US CEOs Forum.

Mr. Analjit Singh has always taken keen interest in enhancing India's academic excellence. He is currently an Executive Board Member of the Board of Governors, Indian School of Business, Hyderabad, where he is facilitating and jointly funding a new campus at Mohali, Punjab.

He is 57, married and has three children.
