Global Directory Initiative
IIT Roorkee's Dean of Alumni Affairs, Dr S P Gupta was an active participant and initiated a much needed infrastructure effort, Global Directory Initiative. This initiative will provide the much needed alumni information in a secure way to verified alumni. A team has been put together led by Dean Gupta to get this launched on IITR Charter Day, Nov 25th 2012.

IITR Entrepreneur Forum
During the Chicago 2012 Annual Reunion, we launched an Entrepreneur Forum that consisted of many experienced Angel/Venture Capital investors. As a first step to a longer-term engagement, the Forum hosted a Venture Pitchfest that was highly successful and generated a lot of excitement with nearly a dozen start-ups/prospects pitching their ideas for funding or networking or other needs.

The IIT-R Entrepreneur Forum is led by Manoj Goel (Bay Area), and currently comprises of Shantanu Agarwal (Houston), Ray Mehra (Chicago), Eddie Nath (Chicago) and Dr. Sanjiv Sinha (Ann Arbor).

The Forum plans to continue promoting entrepreneurship through networking, education, and mentoring with the following objectives:
  • Help refine venture pitching and obtain feed-back from a seasoned panel comprised of Angel/Venture Capital (VC) investors
  • Provide/obtain constructive feedback on new projects/business ventures/ideas
  • Connect entrepreneurs with Angels/VC investors, with the eventual goal of obtaining funding
  • Create momentum for entrepreneurship; and
  • Develop a local and global network of experienced angel investors/VCs that mentor and promote new entrepreneurs.
Follow-up inquiries for the Forum's activities and assistance etc can be made to Mr. Shantanu Agarwal (shan.ag@gmail.com).

Awards & Recognitions
Keeping with the Roorkee tradition, the Thomasonian seniors distributed the memento and awards to the speakers, panelists, and volunteers.

Two special awards were presented to "Prof Shamsher Prakash" and "Indra and Roshan Goel" for their leadership and support to the cause of Roorkee and its alumni.
