The president of Nebraska Air Quality Specialties LLC, Piyush Srivastav is passionate about the environment. He is a former groundwater geologist who now devotes his time to providing organizations air quality and climate change services.

His company, one of the companies in Southeast Community College's Entrepreneurship Center business incubator, is the only consulting firm in Nebraska that specializes in air quality regulations, he said. The company assists organizations ranging from Fortune 500 companies to small municipalities.

Piyush earned his master's degrees in geology before he came to the United States in 1989. In 1991, he earned a second master's degree in hydrogeology from George Washington University in Washington, D.C.

In 1998, Srivastav went to work for the Nebraska Department of Environmental Quality as a groundwater geologist and later as an air quality regulator. In 2002, Srivastav left the state agency to work for the Nebraska Public Power District as an environmental specialist in air quality. He helped NPPD comply with regulations at its power plants across the state.

In 2003, he started his own business while working for NPPD. He moved to Lincoln in 2007 and eventually quit his job with NPPD to devote all his time to his new company.
