William B. Houston, Investor and Founder VC Firm

William B. Houston has invested in more than three dozen privately-held companies. Typical investments include an Internet storage provider where he served on the board; a nationwide doctor's hotline backed by Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers and Cardinal Ventures; the nation's fourth largest manufacturer of wood windows and doors; and a medical products company which commercialized a treatment for pressure sores and where he served as chairman of the advisory board.

Bill graduated from Amherst College and Stanford Graduate School of Business where he was a Sloan Scholar. Currently, he serves as a Trustee of the Chicago School Educational System, and is on the advisory board of a startup offering online mental health assistance to veterans with post-traumatic stress syndrome. Bill is active in Chicago angel investment groups like Hyde Park Angels. He is also active in Chicago non-profits, volunteering at a food pantry in the Grand Crossing neighborhood. He has served as treasurer of his church in Hyde Park for several years.
